1. Weight Maintenance vs. Weight Loss during the holidays.

  • Want to lose weight? This is not the time to do it. Maintenance of your present weight is a big enough challenge during the holiday season.

2. DO NOT diet after the New Year.

Anticipation of food restriction sets you up for binge-type eating over the holidays. Restrictive diets increase your loss of lean body mass vs. fat, slow down your metabolism, increase anxiety, depression, food preoccupation, and binge eating, and make weight re-gain more likely.

ImageEver feel confused about nutrition? Do you struggle reading labels to figure out what are the best foods to eat? Now you can know the one number that tells you everything you need to know about a food.

The Nutripoints™ Program for Optimal Nutrition is the ultimate guide to "healthy eating made simple". No more counting calories, protein, carbohydrates, fats, cholesterol, sodium, sugar, vitamins, minerals…all that work has been done for you, and formulated into just one number—the Nutripoint score. The higher the Nutripoint score for a food, the higher its nutritional value. Based on nutrient density, and created by Dr. Roy E. Vartabedian while at the world famous Cooper Clinic in Dallas, no other plan is easier or healthier. Nutripoints has been used in 13 countries worldwide for over 17 years. Here’s a sample of what Nutripoints can do for you:

  • Rates your present diet on a scale of 1 to 100 to see where you stand.
  • Helps you "upgrade" your diet and triple or quadruple your nutritional intake.
  • Helps you lose fat-weight naturally by picking the highest-rated foods
    you love.
  • Helps you "recover" nutritionally after a bad day.
  • Helps you use seven ways to fight cancer nutritionally.
  • Shows you foods with negative nutritional scores you should desperately avoid.
  • Shows you the best foods from the healthiest fast food chains.
  • Identifies fruits that are 2-6 times more nutritious than an apple.
  • Tells you the best vegetable in the world--packed with nutrition,
    but virtually no calories.
  • Rates 3600+ foods: basic, brand name, and fast foods.

Here’s a chilling thought: Americans dish out fattier foods in the fall than in the summer and end up packing away an extra 31 calories a day on average as a result. Keep it up and you can gain a pound or two by spring! Your stay-slender solution? Cook as if it’s summer! By using traditional warm-weather ingredients for winter recipes, you’ll create satisfying, tasty and light meals. And of course, a bikini-ready body never goes out of season.

Sunday, 26 November 2006

For this month's fitness tip, we want to address New Year’s resolutions and fitness goals.   The annual New Year's Resolutions are around the corner, so why not get a head start.  January 1st is no different than any other day of the year!  It can be a stressful time of year as well, trying to clean up after holiday guest and settling back into the work routine.

When it comes to your New Year’s resolution try starting today, waiting will only make it harder come January.  With all the holiday parties, food, and to do list; set a goal of maybe just maintaining your weight and fitness level until January.  Most people fall off the New Year’s wagon by March because they waited until the last minute and were overwhelmed by all the poor choices they made during the Holiday season. So they frantically set a resolution January 1st and set themselves up for failure before they even get started.
